Top 5 Video Games of All Time

Video games have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. This may not be a list of the “best” games ever created, but these are my top favorites over the years!

  1. GTA V - The greatest game or series of all time has to be Grand Theft Auto. GTA V has gotten the most play, but I started on GTA IV. Both games are instant classics. The story mode is a blast, but nothing beats taking turns causing the most horrific damage possible, and ending your turn with the worst possible suicide you could imagine. Skidding across the highway going 120 mph after jumping out of a moving car, only to get that “wasted” screen pop up and hand the controller over to your buddy for their turn of destruction.

  2. Call of Duty 4 - Many can argue that other CODs have been better. But this is where it all began. The term “Xbox Sleepover” was coined. Why have 5 or 6 of us all sleep over at one person’s house? We become so limited and there are few activities that allow 6 people to consistently participate. So we created the Xbox Sleepover. We hop into a party chat and play COD together for 8 hours straight until like 6am when we fade out for bed 1 by one. Nothing beats having a full team of 6 and playing Headquarters or Search and Destroy for 8 hours straight and barely losing a single game. Domination and teamwork at its finest.

  3. NFL Street - NFL Street introduced us to Smeer the queer (crush the carrier if you wanna be PC.) A football game with no injuries, minimal penalties, and players playing in street clothes with basically no padding. This created a much more relatable football experience, the way we would all go out and play football together at the local park. Style points and trick passes make this game more exciting than a traditional football game, like the game next on my list, Madden 04.

  4. Madden 04 - All Maddens are pretty similar, but one of the few that stands out above the rest is Madden 04. The Madden with Michael Vick on the cover. This was the first Madden that introduced Owner mode in the Franchise mode, allowing users to control everything within the organization, all the way down to the hot dog prices at your stadium. It sounded a little unnecessary, but it truly was fun and a game-changer.

  5. NBA Street - Growing up, I loved basketball, but was more of a fan of streetball than I was of the NBA. The fancy ball handling and trick passes made me fall in love with the game. Some names that will never be forgotten from this game are Stretch, Bonafide, and my favorite, Biggie Little. Biggie Little had the best handles and is one of the greatest fictional legends of all time.

There are hundreds of video games that could make this list, so here are some honorable mentions:

Tiger Woods PGA - I still play PGA games, but nothing beats the OG PGA games back when you could spin your ball mid-air, and switch on Tiger Vision for your putts.

MLB Slugfest - The greatest baseball game ever created. I also enjoy normal MLB games, but nothing beats hitting a double and then punching the shortstop for standing to close and then running to 3rd.

NFL Blitz - Similar to Slugfest, NFL Blitz was just a different level of football. Football is already violent, so why not allow players to jsut straight up punch each other in between plays?

Spyro - One of the few non-sports games that could ever make my list. I still occasionally play Spyro for the nostalgia, and it honestly will never get old.
