How To Grow On Twitter (X)

I’ll start by saying I am not some social media expert and do not do this professionally. I am simply an NFT degen who has found himself interacting on X much more frequently and am slowly reaching the stage of being able to monetize my account. I am not expecting anything crazy, but even to make an extra $50 per month for just using an app I would already use is pretty cool.

I am not going to make an extensive guide, but I will share a few things that I have noticed work or not work over the last few months.

  1. Be consistent - Posting and replying to other posts every day and multiple times (sometimes hundreds) is most important.

  2. Be selective - The algorithm notices if you are following or interacting with accounts with bad follow ratios (following more than followers). They will also notice if you are interacting or engaging with bot accounts, so be selective about who you choose to interact with.

  3. Be a reply guy - I have noticed the term “reply guy” going around more often, and that is basically what I am. Just reply and engage with as many big, good accounts as possible. This will get your account and comments on more viral tweets, and allow more people to see and engage.

  4. Have fun - Once you start treating this like a job and stressing about it, you won’t do as well. Pay attention and still learn as you go, but treat it more like a game and just have fun!

  5. Be real/nice - Be real and be you. Hopefully you are a nice person, but be you. Some people think it is weird to support and show love to strangers online. You wanna know what’s more weird? Hating on strangers on the internet, now that’s FUCKING WEIRD.

  6. Be Fast - Turn on notifications for accounts you want to reply to regularly and try to be the first to leave a comment every time. This will help get you early views, and if you leave a good comment, will put this comment near the top of the replies and just stack views. It is important to balance good comments with “nothing” comments to try and keep other statistics such as likes, replies, clicks, etc looking good as well.

Examples: Here are some personal examples of some tweets and replies to show kind of what I mean.

As you can see in the examples above, there are different ways and tactics to leave comments that can be effective. Let’s break down each reply:

  1. LPGA - I replied to a post about Women’s golf where a Lady uses turf as a tee, essentially ruining the golf course. I replied in a controversial manner by making a comment about doing a similar thing on the greens. In the golf world, this is extremely not okay, so tended to draw some eyes and likes. Being controversial can draw attention as long as you’re not taking it too far or being offensive.

  2. Jersey Jerry - This is an account that I have notifications on for and try to reply to every tweet I see him send out instantly. He gets good engagement on his replies, and every tweet he sends has the potential to go viral. Riding the coattails of successful accounts is a solid play.

  3. Cristiano Ronaldo - Another account that I have notifications turned on for simply because of how many people follow and see his tweets. I spent 0 effort and creativity leaving eyeballs under a post and ended up getting another 15k views/impressions.

Analytics: Be sure to pay attention to your Analytics, and gauge what is and isn’t working. Twitter Analytics can be found here: Twitter Analytics

The goal of all of this is to receive 5 million impressions/views on your tweets every 3 months. This will make you eligible for ad share revenue, and you will start to receive monthly checks directly from X. These checks may not be huge at first, or ever, but is the new beginning for creators earning a share of the revenue from ads that the company makes.

Paying attention to what does and does not work is important. BE sure to check your analytics every now and then to check your progress and make adjustments. I won’t overdo it with advice for now, but am always open to talking and discussing more personally if you are interested! Feel free to reach out directly on Twitter or Instagram and I am happy to share all other experiences I’ve had, and answer any questions you may have!
