Oakland A’s Coming To Vegas
History of A’s: The A’s were originally founded in 1901 in Philadelphia. They temporarily moved to Kansas City, and then finally ended up in Oakland in 1968, now having been there for over 55 years. They have won 9 World Series so far, but have not won since 1989.
Reverse Boycott: 27,759 fans showed up for the game, which is more than TRIPLE their average home game attendance. The point? To show that the fans love the team, and they will come back and show support if they can get their current owner to sell the team. Is it going to make a difference? Probably not. But it definitely was a great turnout from A’s fans who sent a message loud and clear to the current owner and how they feel about his decisions.
Stadium Location: Who knows what the stadium will really end up looking like or will it will actually end up? I get the same vibes from this guy in the video who is clearly skeptical of any and all information released thus far. Nonetheless, if the stadium ends up even HALF as cool as this video portrays, I will not be disappointed.
Future of Baseball in Las Vegas: We have seen the success of both the Aces and the Knights so far, both winning championships. The Raiders have yet to find success on the field but never fail to fill up a stadium and attract 10s of thousands of fans each home game. I think the Athletics moving to Vegas will have a similar outcome. It may take a few years to win on the field, but the events and games themselves will be a win for fans from the beginning.
